Schizophrenia: There’s a Person in There

"That person has someone who loves them and deserves respect and deserves treatment."

Transcript

I would want people to know that first of all, there is a person in there.

So often we see the symptoms, and we forget that in there is somebody’s son, somebody’s brother, daughter, wife, husband, parent. That person has someone who loves them and deserves respect and deserves treatment. I would also want them to know that the illness can be manageable, but that they often can’t manage it themselves. That they need support and love. I would want people to see possibility, and not the negatives.
