Finding the Right Listener

"Find a therapist that you can talk to, that you can be open with and comfortable with. Find a good friend, a support network."

Transcript

I would tell other people to keep talking about your symptoms. Keep telling people until somebody listens. If you don’t have a doctor who will listen go to another doctor. Find a therapist that you can talk to, that you can be open with and comfortable with. Find a good friend, a support network.

I’ve been to different doctors who didn’t really get it or who would just throw medication at it. Right now I have a doctor who listens to my overall health. I may go in for my foot, but he’s going to ask me how my depression is doing. It’s taken a lot of years to find a doctor who will listen that way, but I think that it’s worth trying different doctors until you find the right one.
